Blood in stool is a common symptom of both Piles and cancer of colon and rectum. However, their management are entirely different. Besides cancer there are two more diseases which need mention: Diverticular disease and Rectal Prolapse.

    That's the most important reason not to assume all rectal bleed as Piles, though Piles is the most common cause of bleeding per anum. Colon and rectal cancers also bleed per anum.

    See a surgeon, get a manual examination of rectum by DRE and Proctoscopy and if the surgeon advises, get a full length Colonoscopy and possibly CT and MRI scans.

    Non cancers are treated by medicines, cancers and potential cancers are treated by Surgery and nowadays by advanced Laparoscopic surgery which is relatively painless, quick and oncologically equal or even better than open surgery.
