Welcome to the world of modern surgery ruled by Laparoscopy, Laser and many other minimal invasive techniques which you are going to marvel as you read on. Gone are the days when surgeons used to make big cuts to remove gall bladder stones, darn a defect in a hernia, or take out colon or rectum cancers. Now they do the same job using a few holes to send their instruments inside the abdomen which is relatively painless and reduces the hospital stay! Or take the case of one of the commonest ailments like Piles and Fistula. Earlier, surgeons left a severely painful wound around the anus after surgery that needed months of dressing, restricted activity and inability to resume work for a long period. With Laser, there is no wound at all because nothing is cut. Using laser energy the surgeon ablate the piles, close a nagging fistula.

Laparoscopy

Laparoscopy has found its place quite rightfully among the surgeons. Most of the common general surgical procedures are now done laparoscopically. Some people call it ‘MICROSURGERY’. Though technically it is not correct, it conveys the essence of the concept – it is done with minimum injury to human body and therefore is relatively painless. Surgeons prefer to call it MINIMAL INVASIVE SURGERY – MIS. So, all these – MICROSURGERY, KEY-HOLE SURGERY, MINIMAL INVASIVE SURGERY and LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY mean the same. I would list down the surgeries I perform laparoscopically below.

Laser Surgery

The new weapon in the armamentarium of a modern surgeon is Diode Laser. We have acquired the latest Diode Lasers of Lasotronics, Poland two years ago. Since then, treatment of Piles, Fistula and Fissure has become almost painless, with very short hospital stay and without much fuss. The surgery which takes half an hour to forty-five minutes is done using laser energy specifically suited for vascular tissue in Piles or Haemorrhoids. With radial laser fibres which emit energy at 360 degrees, fistula tracts are obliterated quickly without any cut or wound and the patient can get rid of nuisance of dressing.
